The Mike Weaver Award is presented annually by the Vine Ingle Little League to a 12 year old Major League player who best exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship, character, and love of the game of baseball.  The award is presented in memory of Mike Weaver who played and umpired at the League from 1990 to 2001 and whose life was tragically lost in 2003.  The award was set up in 2004 and funded by the generous contributions of many friends of Mike and his family and the League.

Parents for each Major League team select their team’s nominee at mid-season and then the umpires choose the winner after the last game of the regular season.  All nominees are recognized and the winner is announced in a ceremony at the start of the Major League tournament.  The winner receives a plaque and an expense paid trip to Atlanta which includes:  Tickets to an Atlanta Braves game;  A tour of Turner Field;  Tickets to Six Flags;  Overnight accommodations;  And spending money.
